- Layer Opacity

At a complete opacity of 100 %, value by default, a layer is totally
opaque and any underlying layer is seen by transparency. When you
drag the slider to the left to reduce opacity, the underlying layer
begins to appear. When the opacity value is 75 %, the image shows 75
% of the upper layer and 25 % of the underlying layer. At an opacity
value of 0 %, the layer is transparent and you only see the
underlying layer.

Layer Blend Mode

The layer blend modes enable you to combine the pixels of the
selected layer with the pixels of underlying layers.

You can experiment with these various modes to obtain the wished
result.

Resize as Background

The selected layer is resized with the same dimension as the
background.
